This privacy policy outlines the processes The Siren follows if storing and handling personal data.

The Siren is hosted on WordPress and the data controller is WordPress. Email subscriptions are managed by the WordPress platform and by individual subscribers.

This policy is to document our processes in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and any succeeding England and Wales legislation.

Data types collected

The Siren collects only two types of personal information: email addresses for the purpose of the WordPress-managed email subscriber list and comments and WordPress profile names for direct followers or commenters.

The Siren does not collect any sensitive or special personal data.

Email list

All followers and all subscribers to our mailing list have explicitly opted in and consented to receive The Siren’s article notifications. The GDPR lawful basis for this data processing is consent.

Subscriber email data is never shared with any party other than WordPress and The Siren. Access to the email list is limited to The Siren administration and WordPress.

Email data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed to the list. You can opt out from our email list at any time. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe from the list.

Payment data

The Siren does not see or store any sensitive payment information such as credit card or PayPal details.

Cookies

This website uses cookies for the purpose of gathering anonymised statistics about page views, using Google Analytics. This does not include any personally identifiable data. You can opt out of Google Analytics at this link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/

WordPress may store data on page visits under WordPress’ own GDPR/privacy policy.

Making requests about your data

To request access to all the data The Siren holds about you (a subject access request) or request an export in a standard format (data portability), email privacy@gdpr@sirenmag.net.

To request deletion of some or all the data The Siren holds about you (right to removal), rectify an error in it or request restrictions on our processing of it, email privacy@sirenmag.net.
