Biking Boost for Britons

There’s nothing quite like a good bike ride to blow the cobwebs away. Even in cycle-unfriendly Britain, there are a lot more cyclists on the road. Leisure time cycling has increased 60% and during the lockdown period, cycling was up 200%.

New bikes, and also e-bikes have been part of the phenomenon. Having some battery power to assist you up those hills makes a definite improvement.

Across the National Cycle Network (NCN), which totals 12,000 miles of routes across the UK, Sustrans figures shows cycling and walking were up by 25% in 2020 compared with 2019 data. People find cycling in nice areas therapeutic. Of course major conurbations can be a nightmare with pollution and motorist hazards making travelling by bike stressful. It is to be hoped that the transition to pedal powered transport instead of cars is going to be a permanent one.
